The Magiyanii (sometimes called Magiyanians) are a sapient species from the planet Magiyania, in sector A13D3.
The Magiyanii were largely incapable of spaceflight before first contact with the Toltyian Probe and the subsequent discovery of the Sporegate Network, due to their primitive technology and their homeworld having a ring system.
For many centuries, the Sporegate on Magiyania sat in various museums, its true purpose unknown. This changed when, in the middle of a busy and crowded museum, the gate activated and the Toltyian Empire sent an armed reconnaissance probe through, leading to the Toltyian Empire discovering Magiyania and its people, and the ensuing conflict between them. This also lead to the establishment of Magiyanian Sporegate Command, and its exploration of the gate network.
The Magiyanii function as Sporegate's 'protagonists', with the story primarily following the missions of Magiyanian Sporegate Command and its operatives.
MSC was founded after first contact with the Toltyian Empire lead to the deaths of several museumgoers and security personnel, with the objective of doing reconnaissance of the gate network and recovering advanced off-world technologies to be used in defending Magiyania from extraterrestrial threats, as well as to find allies and possibly trading partners in the galactic community.
Most of Magiyania's reconaissance teams consist of 3-5 personnel, usually scientists or experienced soldiers, and follow a strict naming scheme with 'Deep Space Alpha' being the flagship exploratory team, with 'DS-Beta' and 'DS-Delta' being additional teams that can be called upon by MSC's commander to either assist another reconaissance team, or to be sent on offworld missions themselves. It is not yet stated how many teams there are, but there are definitely a lot more than just three.
The Magiyanii are actively in a state of war with the Toltyian Empire.
The Magiyanii are allied with the Dakiscan Rebels but opposed to the Dakiscan Federation governing body.
There are no formal hostilities between Magiyania and the Holy Yurgaian Empire, but both are distrustful and suspicious of eachother.
